An Ado-Ekiti Customary Court on Friday dissolved a 17-year-old marriage between Oyewole Yinka and her husband, Idowu for threat to life.
The court also dissolved the marriage on grounds of frequent fighting, fetishness and lack of care for her and the children.
The President of the court, Mr Joseph Ogunsemi, held that the marriage had broken down irretrievably and consequently dissolved the marriage.
Ogunsemi awarded custody of Tosin, 16, and Temitope, 12, both male to the husband, and Adejoke, 14, Blessing, nine, and Ayomide, seven, all female to the wife.
He also ordered that the husband should pay N2,000 as monthly upkeep allowance on each of the female children.
He also granted both parties access to see their children
Yinka, 43, a resident of No. 19, Dallimore, Ado-Ekiti, told the court that they always fought each other whenever she denied him of sex.
She said that they always fought on the issue of food, saying despite that she used her money to cook, he would complained that the food was late.
The mother of five said that her estranged husband did not take care of her and the children.
She said that there was a time her husband once told her when she had the fourth pregnancy that he would take her to an unknown place and after delivery use the baby for money ritual.
She claimed that she did not respond to it until 2013, when he raised the issue which made her to leave the house.
The petitioner said that sometimes in 2013 her husband woke her up midnight and told her not to leave him because he would make it in life through her.
She said she left his house with the children and relocated to Port-Harcourt for her prophetess ministration.
She, therefore, prayed the court to dissolve the marriage and award her the custody of her children because their education was most important.
But the respondent, Idowu, 41, said they never fought each other over sex.
He said that his sister and Yinka conspired during their visit for Christmas holidays and travelled to Port-Harcourt without his knowledge.
The respondent said he had been taking care of her and the children until 2013 when she left his house with the children.
He said that he never discuss any issue of using their child for money ritual. (NAN)
